Prayer & Praise for January 2007

Notre Dame, originally uploaded by papalars.

• A connection made at church with a Pakistani immigrant in November is growing into a significant ministry opportunity. The way we met was clearly orchestrated by God. Several exciting pieces for ministry are coming together currently with others. Pray for direction in identifying needs and developing an appropriate response. Pray for growing relationships, trust and love of Christ to be communicated.

• Several of these Pakistanis have Focus friends. Pray for ways to appropriately share the gospel with them, for openness, trust and barriers to be broken down.

• Pray for a contact from Morocco, a developing relationship and potential discipleship with him to begin soon. Pray for schedule and logistics to work and that I may be able to articulate the Gospel that meets his questions and needs.

• Continue to pray for the language study opportunity I mentioned in November at the cultural center. I’m on the list to begin study with a group this month. Pray for good learning and ability to build relationships of trust with my teacher from Syria. Pray also that this may yield other relationships for sharing Christ.

• Pray for attendance at a conference this month in Malta that brings together missionaries and churches to focus on bringing the Gospel to North Africans and the development of autonomous, indigenous churches with their own vision for growth and multiplication.

• Praise God, we got word on our visas this last week! They need another piece of paper but assured us that the visas are in process. We are encouraged. The issue of being in Spain as tourists while waiting for the visas did not seem to be a problem.

• Praise God for a great time together as a family this last month. Our travels and time went well with a few bumps along the way, but nothing serious. Nicki is back at CBC and seems to be doing better health-wise. Continue to pray for her as she seeks to maintain her health. She is still prone to migraines and needs to discern how to manage this with the load of studies and ministry assignments. Kjel leaves tomorrow for NPU. Meanwhile, Erick anticipates being alone with M & Dad again and a trip to Oman the end of Jan. with school for a conference on the environment and water management.

• Continue to pray for our spiritual struggle that I mentioned last month. I can see God’s hand in much of what we are doing but I can also feel the deep undercurrents that seem to want to destroy us and efforts to share God’s love. Pray that we are wise and know how to pray, love each other and go forward with God’s strength.

• Lastly, continue to pray for our support funds. We still have need for additional support and are trusting God to bring that in.

Bless you all for praying!
